2026 MAA Scope of Practice Conference

Our annual Scope of Practice conference is scheduled for Friday, October 2 at the Drury Plaza Hotel St. Louis St. Charles.

The Schedule

  • Friday, October 2: Join us bright and early for a full day of exciting audiology sessions (approximately 7:30 am – 5:00 pm) with a happy hour to follow at the hotel bar.


Featured Speakers

Gail Whitelaw, PhD. Main Presenter.  Dr. Whitelaw joins us from The Ohio State University. She is a renowned leader in the audiology profession, bringing decades of clinical and academic expertise to our 2026 program.

TOPIC: Counseling

Jonathan Mikhail, EdD, AuD, MS. Featured Presenter. A Missouri local, Dr. Mikhail is a dedicated professional known for his commitment to the audiology community in our state.

TOPIC: Rural Cochlear Implants & Medical Model Residency for Audiology

Lindsey Jorgensen, AuD, PhD. Featured Presenter. Dr. Jorgensen joins us from the University of Kentucky as the new Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is a leader in our profession and is a guru in amplification and verification. We welcome her expertise to the 2026 conference. 

TOPIC: Hearing Aid Verification with Hands On

Brent Edwards, PhD. Featured Presenter. Dr. Edwards is the Director of Research at Australia's National Acoustic Laboratories, with over 22 years of research leadership at hearing aid companies like GN ReSound and Starkey. A Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, he's a widely published researcher and frequent speaker at international conferences.

TOPIC: AI in Audiology

Madison Howe, AuD. Featured Presenter. Dr. Madison Howe, AuD currently serves as the Program Director at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Her career has spanned clinical service, leadership within multiple professional organizations, and academic innovations that prepare the next generation of professionals.
